Keystone is one of those rare places surrounded by beauty and the largest ski resort in
Summit County.
In the winter months, Keystone features Nordic and backcountry
skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, sledding and alpine skiing or snowboarding.
One of the world's foremost alpine resorts and the largest ski area in Summit
County is right at your doorstep. Keystone also features the only
night skiing in Summit County.
Keystone is oriented around two separate villages: "the Pond" with activities
such as ice-skating and hockey, and River Run, a newer village at the base of
the Gondola. Both have shops and restaurants to tempt any tastes.
Keystone has four different mountains to ski. Together they offer 2,227
skiable acres of terrain serviced by 24 lifts. Three mountains are accessible
from the Keystone Village Base area. The fourth, Arapahoe Basin, is a 10-minute
shuttle ride up Loveland Pass. Keystone Mountain is known for its
groomed, wide trails, and designated slow skiing areas, perfect for families
and beginners. North Peak boasts steep mogul covered runs, and smooth cruisers
that cater to the more advanced skier. The Outback features gladed tree skiing
to offer the adventurous intermediate and advanced skiers powder skiing long
after the main runs turn to packed powder. Arapahoe Basin is famous for the
steep and deep. No frills, just some of the most exciting and challenging
skiing around.
When the weather turns warmer, the paved bike path stretches from Keystone
to Frisco and then on to Copper and Vail. The bike path also streches from Frisco
to Breckenridge. Bike path activities include cycling, inline skating, running and
picturesque walks. Other Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, camping,
whitewater rafting or play a round of golf on one of 2 Keystone Golf Courses.
The golf courses include Keystone Ranch and the newer River Course, both with
challenging holes and breathtaking scenery. Keystone also has a fabulous
conference facility that hosts groups from all over the world, taking advantage
of all our mountain seasons.
Just down the road from the resort are terrific opportunities to explore the
towns of Sts John and Montezuma, bringing visitors back into a historical time
with remnants of our local mining heritage. These can be explored through trails,
four-wheel drive tours or on skis or snowshoes in winter.
For those choosing not to indulge in physical activity, within the Town
of Keystone, you can browse quaint shops and stylish boutiques, enjoy one
of Keystone's many festivals or sit down to a truly memorable dinner.
